The Allianz Riviera was chosen to host the first official preparatory match for the World Cup on August 17th at 9:00 pm against Scotland. It will be a chance for Nice residents and French fans to wish their team good luck prior to their departure for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
So France’s national rugby team is coming to Nice to prepare for the Rugby World Cup. For one whole week, from August 14th to 22nd, Les Bleus will be using the Stade des Arboras for their training sessions. This stadium is perfectly suited to the players, for it features an entire sports complex and well-designed installations. The city of Nice was also chosen for its weather.
"The World Cup will take place in Japan in September, when it is very hot. That’s why we chose Nice,” says French national coach Jacques Brunel, who will also accompany his players for training sessions at Cap-d'Ail in July and at Valencia, Spain in early August.
In fact, Jacques Brunel and his staff went to the Stade des Arboras yesterday afternoon to sort out final details, and they took the opportunity to meet with young players at the Stade Niçois rugby school.
He explains that he will rely on team cohesion and consistency to be as ready as can be and that he is counting on public support.
Until then, the Allianz Riviera is impatiently looking forward to host the team’s first match ever in Nice and it hopes that there will be many fans from all walks of life to attend this key event.
