FIFA Women’s World Cup: the list of France’s 23 chosen players

The list of the 23 players selected for the eighth FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ has just been unveiled by Corinne Diacre. In so doing, France’s national team coach has ended the suspense 36 days before kick-off on Friday June 7th at 9:00 pm at the Parc des Princes in Paris. The announcement alone was a historic event, for it was the first time in women’s football history that a list of female players is unveiled during the evening TV news (Journal de 20H). France’s national team is currently ranked 4th in FIFA’s world ranking, so it can focus on preparing for women’s football’s most prestigious contest, which it is their good fortune to be playing on home ground.
The squad’s star players will all be on hand for this 2019 world cup. We can mention Sarah Bouhaddi, Wendie Renard, Elise Bussaglia, Amandine Henry, Eugénie Le Sommer and Gaëtane Thiney. However, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who was expected by many to take part and who played at the Allianz Riviera in November 2018 for France v Brazil, did not make the team.
